Dolly Parton is known for her glamorous appearance in public, and the singer has stated that she enjoys dressing up at home as well, even when it’s just her and her husband of 57 years, Carl Dean.
During an interview with the 2022 edition of the Daily Pop on E! News, Dolly Parton says, “I like to dress up for Carl.”
“Every day, before I leave the house, I straighten my hair and put on some makeup because I tell myself, ‘Well, the whole world, I’m out here, and everybody else sees me all done up.’ I’m not going to go home and roll over for him like that.”
Parton and Dean have been married for close to six decades, which means they have seen just about every side of each other. The singer claims that the effort she takes into her looks is just as much for her own benefit as it is for the good of her spouse.
She continues by saying, “But it’s important to me that I look as good as I can,” despite the fact that he would love her regardless of how she looked.
Parton responds, “Well, I think it helps!” when she is asked if it is the secret to keeping her marriage exciting after all of these years, adding that “Nobody wants to make out with a slouch.”
” I think it kind of helps, keeping things, you know, spicy, which I think is kind of important.”
Parton is keeping things “spicy” in her profession, as well: in November, the country legend and newly inducted member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will release her maiden rock album, titled Rock Star. The album will feature a long list of who’s who in that genre as contributors, and it will feature Parton singing rock songs.
During the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards, which the icon co-hosted with Garth Brooks, the first single from the project, titled “World on Fire,” was performed for the first time.
